There’s not a lot that hasn’t been said about Paul Pogba following his £89m return to Manchester United in the summer, but Adidas have pulled it off with their latest advert in their #HereToCreate campaign.
There was a time when football adverts were the creme de la creme of TV, with the likes of Pepsi, Adidas, EA Sports and Nike creating memories that last a lifetime – and boosting their own revenue streams in the process.
It all seems like a long time ago though, but Adidas have rolled back the years, with one minute and 21 seconds of pure advertising genius – following the journey of the world’s most expensive footballer from his days as a child, right up until his return to Manchester United.
Born to create and not to follow is the theme of the advert and it’s partnered with dramatic music – which feels a bit weird, as we’ve become accustomed to watching Pogba’s glimpses of talent to the tune of dubstep.
