It always seemed like an odd decision from Manchester United to let Javier Hernandez leave over the summer. Like or loath the Mexican, he guarantees goals, but his awesome record for club and country did little to hold Louis van Gaal’s attention, and the Dutchman duly sold him Bayer Leverkusen after shifting out on loan to Real Madrid last season.
It quite simply looked to be that LVG couldn’t see how to fit the striker into his team… which now looks pretty silly given that ‘Chicharito’ made it 15 goals in his last 12 games this evening against Borussia Monchengladbach.
A questionable decision from LVG, it seems. While Hernandez is performing so well, United are losing away at Bournemouth and have netted only 21 goals in 16 league games. Further to this, Memphis Depay and Marouane Fellaini have been used as stand-in strikers at various stages… Surely Hernandez would have been a better option to call upon.
