Club stalwart admits future may lie away from Man United

Rio Ferdinand has admitted his future may lie away from Manchester United, reports the Daily Mail.

The former England defender is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season, and there had been talk he was set to retire.

However, Ferdinand insists he would like to carry on playing, and whilst he would like to continue ‘living the dream’ with Manchester United, he admits his future may lie elsewhere.

“I want to continue playing – that’s the aim,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“The legs haven’t given way yet.

“Whether that’s at Manchester United or somewhere else depends on what the club want to do.

“We’ll have to wait and see at the end of the season. We’ll do what we did last season – speak and see where we’re at.”

Ferdinand has managed just nine Premier League starts under David Moyes this season, whilst discussions over any new contract will not begin until the end of the season.

Asked whether Ferdinand would want to continue plying his trade at Old Trafford, the 35-year-old answered:

“Of course. That’s the dream.

“I’m living the dream and want that to continue.”
