Could it get any worse for Manchester United?

Saturday bought about a day that anybody who is not a Manchester United fan will have always hoped for, but never thought would happen.

A day when Manchester United were described as being in a relegation battle, and it was actually close to believable.

Whoever decided to advertise Manchester United’s clash with Sunderland at their local pub as a ‘relegation battle’ may well have been a Liverpool or Manchester City fan – but it was a further indication of what a tough start United have had to life under David Moyes.

Albeit that describing Saturday’s game in that manner was a tad premature, hats off to whoever caught it on camera – as it perhaps the only time in living memory for many of us that a moment like that can be deemed as being true rather than ironic!

United fans are very touchy at the moment, and seem to think the whole world is against them. Rival supporters are enjoying their tough start a little too much, they say. Well yes, we are. After 20 years of dominance, let us enjoy it while we can!

And the signs are there that it will all be over soon. Adnan Januzaj is apparently the new Lionel Messi, and United’s win on Saturday took them up to the dizzying heights of erm… ninth.
