Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has got Croatian World Cup stars Ante Rebic and Ivan Perisic on his radar, according to The Sun.

What’s the story, then?

Mourinho has reportedly been impressed by Croatia’s run to the World Cup final and has his eye on both their wing wizards in order to strengthen his side’s chances of making a genuine title bid this season.

The Sun report that the Portuguese is ready to splash out £92m for the duo, which includes £48m for Perisic, whom he has admired long before he scored in both the semi-final and final out in Russia.

They also claim that Rebic has also come to his attention this summer and that Mourinho is willing to pay £44m to procure the wideman from current club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Two new wingers would be the end of Martial

The mid-season arrival of Alexis Sanchez already shunted Anthony Martial down the United pecking order and the World Cup of form of Jesse Lingard at a tournament the Frenchman was forced to watch from home can’t have helped his chances of gametime this season.

A bumper swoop for two new wingers fresh on the back of a successful World Cup campaign would surely be the end for Martial at Old Trafford; there would just be too many people to clamber past in order to get a game.

Also, such a lucrative swoop from Mourinho would surely require at least one departure in order to balance the books and a highly-rated young talent like Martial could be expected to fetch in the region of £70m.
