Euro giants eyeing third raid in a year on Manchester United

Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce are eyeing a THIRD raid on Manchester United in the space of 12 months with a summer move for Juan Mata, according to reports from A Spor.

The Istanbul club signed both Robin van Persie and Nani from the Old Trafford giants last year in a big spending off-season, and the pair have a played a major role in their Super Lig title challenge this term.

Now reports claim that Fenerbahce are keen to return to Manchester for another big name in the shape of Mata, with manager Vitor Pereira keen to add the classy ‘No.10’ to his ranks.

The 27-year-old became United most expensive player – a record subsequently broken by Angel di Maria – when he joined the club in a £37.1m deal from Chelsea under the reign of David Moyes, but he’s often struggled to make himself a key player at the Theatre of Dreams.

Fener’s interest may firm up when Lazar Markovic returns to Liverpool following his loan stint, while Jose Mourinho, who sold the Spaniard when at Stamford Bridge, is widely expected to take over from Louis van Gaal, which could be bad news for the pass-master.
