Everton star open to transfer move

Leighton BainesEverton full-back Leighton Baines has told the club that he wants to join Manchester United, according to reports from The Independent.

The defender has been linked with a move to the Red Devils to join former manager David Moyes all summer, but was believed to be staying at Goodison Park.

However, he has now spoken out, telling the Toffees that he wants to leave.

United have had multiple bids for the 28-year-old knocked back in recent months, but are still believed to be keen to secure his signature.

Moyes sees Baines as the ideal replacement for Patrice Evra, and is desperate to lure at least one first-team star to Old Trafford to announce his reign at the club.

The player himself has cited the chance to play Champions League football as a big factor in his decision, but he is also thought to have one eye on dislodging Ashley Cole as England’s number one left-back – a feat he is more likely to achieve at a club of United’s stature.

The Premier League champions are also still keen on Baines’ team-mate Marouane Fellaini.

It is possible that Moyes could launch another double offer for the pair before the transfer window closes next week.

Manchester United fans, is Leighton Baines’ desire to join your club a boost?
