Falcao one of six for Man United axe ahead of £150m spend

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to offload SIX first-team stars this summer in order to make way for another £150m transfer splurge, with Radamel Falcao on his hit-list, according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils boss is understood to be prepared to open the chequebook once again to repair his squad later this year, despite having spent over £150m – the largest sum ever paid out by a single club in one window – before the current season.

And now name set for the chop is Falcao, who has not done enough to convince LVG that’s worth the £43m needed to make his loan deal from Monaco permanent.

The Colombian has netted just four goals for the Premier League giants, and there are lingering doubts surrounding fitness – a knee injury kept him out of action for much of 2014.

However, Brazilian defender Rafael is thought to be at the top of the list, with the right-back having not featured since the FA Cup third round win at Yeovil.

Tom Cleverley, on loan at Aston Villa, and Javier Hernandez, who is with Real Madrid for the season, are also due to be sold.

As well as the mentioned quartet, back-up goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is no longer needed following the addition of Victor Valdes, while Jonny Evans may make way.
