Young Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan has attracted the eye of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson who is considering a January bid for the player.

The 22 year old midfielder has been attracting interest from plenty of clubs recently with United being the latest in a long line after having watched the player during the recent Champions League game against local rivals Manchester City, leading Fergie to “return to raid” the club he took Kagawa from according to the Daily Star.

Highly regarded across Europe, Eurosport have lauded praise on Gundogan, comparing him to Jack Wilshire and claiming “He has the technical and creative ability to play killer through-balls, but it not afraid to slow the tempo and has the touch and technique to do so.”

Not only do United want the defensive midfielder, who is considered to be one of the “most wanted men in Europe” they are also looking at his teammate, striker Robert Lewandowski who at 24 is hot property and could replace Mexican striker Hernandez should the player leave due to lack of playing time.

With Gundogan alone set to cost £20 million it is unlikely that Fergie would land both players this January, yet has to move quickly if he wants the 22 year old with AC Milan and Spurs but a couple of clubs who are casting more than a sideways glance at a player held to be “pivotal” to the Dortmund side.
