Fergie set to battle Wenger for Crewe starlet

Max Clayton Crewe striker

Manchester United are set to battle Arsenal for the signature of Crewe’s highly rated Max Clayton, according to the Metro.

The 18 year-old striker is the latest name to run off the club’s production line and has made almost 50 appearances since his debut in April 2010.

It’s not only scouts from Manchester United that have been keeping tabs on the youngster, as Liverpool and Newcastle have all been following the talented striker in recent months.

Crewe boss Steve Davis told the Metro he expects the youngster to move on soon,

“I’ve had no inquiries about Max, only people watching, so it’s only a rumour. He’s not ready to go anywhere.

“When the situation is right he will leave to go in somebody’s first team.”
