He’s forged a career out of success at major clubs

Whereas David Moyes arrived at Old Trafford without a single trophy on his CV, Louis van Gaal is one of the most decorated managers in European history and well acquainted to life at major clubs.

His prior employers include Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich – three of the biggest institutions in European football – as well as the Netherlands national team.

Likewise, LVG’s trophy cabinet boasts Eredivisie, La Liga and Bundesliga titles, in addition to a prolific silverware haul during his six-year stay in the Amsterdam dugout where the 62 year-old won every trophy going, including the UEFA Cup, the Champions League and three Johan Cruyff shields.

He’s forged a career out of managing big egos, major clubs, huge expectations and all the accompanying demands, so despite having the legendary reputation of Sir Alex Ferguson to live up to, van Gaal should be more than in his element at Old Trafford.
