Although acquiring a centre-back and a central midfielder will be Louis van Gaal’s leading priorities this summer, it’s no secret that Manchester United’s flanks are in desperate need of some fresh blood too.
Coincidentally, following their disappointing La Liga campaign, Barcelona are crazy enough to sell two high-quality widemen in the same transfer window, in the form of Alexis Sanchez and Pedro.
Both winger-forwards are famed for their quality in possession, athleticism and potency from out wide. The 26 year-old Spaniard boasts four La Liga titles, two Champions League titles and 87 goals in 286 appearances following his debut in 2008, whilst the Chilean, 25, has amassed 47 goals and 34 assists in 141 outings since moving to the Nou Camp from Udinese in summer 2011.
Either would be an ideal fit for Manchester United and van Gaal’s customary 4-3-3 formation, both offering a mixture of tica-taca technique, industriousness, netting prowess and versatility in the final third.
Furthermore, according to the Guardian and Mirror Football, both will be available for around the £20million-£25million mark this summer. Absolute steals.
