Five transfer priorities for Man United this summer

Manchester United have failed to break into the Champions League positions this year, but the Red Devils have an FA Cup Final to look forward to on Saturday.

Nobody is quite sure whether Jose Mourinho or Louis van Gaal will be the manager at Old Trafford next season, yet one thing is for certain: Europe’s best players don’t want to play in the Europa League.

As Manchester United have failed to retain their position in the top four, regardless of their manager, players may not want to join the club. However here I look at the FIVE problems Man United MUST look to address this summer in order to regain their place at the top in English football…

A new Centre back

varane

Raphael Varane would be ideal for Manchester United. United boast one of the best defences in the league, but as I mentioned, they may find it difficult to retain their stars. If somehow United could lure Varane from Real Madrid, it could be one of the greatest signings in Premier League history. Varane is experienced, composed and an all round great defender at just 23.

Controlling Central midfielder

Could United Kroos into the Champions League?

Another Real Madrid man here, Toni Kroos. What a signing this would be. The German is one of the best central midfielders in the world and could change the dynamic of United’s boring style of play. Kroos can score from any distance and is more than capable of assists. The 26 year old would be costly, but Man United desperately need a new midfield spark in the side.

Right-back reinforcements

Is Dan the man?

Manchester United signed Italy international Matteo Darmian and he must have assumed that he was guaranteed a place in the line-up, but competition from Antonio Valencia has meant that Darmian has struggled. With Darmian perhaps looking for the exit door, United should turn to Danilo, from Porto. The 24 year old has been a rock at the back in Portugal and will soon take over from Dani Alves in the Brazil side. Danilo could be an incredible signing for the Old Trafford giants.

Left wing addition

Lorenzo on the wing?

Regardless of the form of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial is far too good to be out on the wing. The Frenchman is a born goalscorer and will want to play up front next season. United must bring in a pacey winger who can bring some quality back to Old Trafford, and Lorenzo Insigne is the perfect fit for Manchester United. Insigne has scored 12 goals, as well as claiming 10 assists, for Napoli this season, so his ability could transform Manchester United.

De Gea’s replacement?

De Gea out. Ted Stegen in?

Surely De Gea is off to Real Madrid now. The Spaniard has yet again been tremendous for Manchester United this term and won the club’s Player of the Year award for the third successive campaign. Due to this, there is a very high possibility that Real Madrid will finally buy their dream target and for this reason, Manchester United must replace their star man. Marc-Andre ter Stegen would be an incredible replacement and may be open to a move considering he has been kept out of the Barcelona side this year. The German is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is just 23.
