The “Chosen One” banner has been removed from the Stretford End of Old Trafford, likely to be consigned to the scrapheap and the David Moyes “era” at Manchester United is now nothing more than an unfortunate memory.
The task now turns to appointing the club’s second manager in less than a year. According to the latest reports, Louis van Gaal is considered to be the favourite for the hotseat while interim manager Ryan Giggs remains firmly in contention.
Before any decisions are made however, valuable lessons need to be learnt from the ‘Moyes Experiment’. A lot went wrong under the former Everton manager and United need to take steps to prevent such mistakes from happening once again.
