French giants slap £38m pricetag on Manchester United target

Paris Saint-Germain have slapped a £38million transfer fee on Manchester United target Marquinhos, according to reports from the Express.

Marquinhos has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes after becoming second-fiddle to first choice centre-back pairing Thiago Silva and David Luiz, with United keen on the defender.

Earlier reports have previously claimed that the Red Devils will need to spend a massive £112million to sign the Brazilian, which has now been suggested by French sources to be exaggerated.

But the Ligue-1 champions insists that they will not sell Marquinhos for less than what they paid for former Chelsea star David Luiz last summer, which was £38million.

The Red Devils will therefore need to up their expected £30million bid in order to sign the former Roma ace, who they want to bring in at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old Brazilian has only made nine league starts in the current campaign since the arrival of Luiz from Stamford Bridge.
