German expecting to join Man United in £50m double deal

Ilkay Gundogan is expecting to follow Dortmund team-mate Mats Hummels to Manchester United in a double deal worth around £50m, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal is expected to go on a major recruitment drive this summer, with the likely return of Champions League football set to hand him a hefty transfer budget and the ability to attract big name stars.

Hummels is considered to be the Old Trafford outfit’s major target, with reports indicating that the World Cup winning centre-back is keen on a deal.

However, he may not be the only recruit from the Westfalenstadion, with Gundogan also chasing a switch.

The player himself is believed to have indicated to United that he is open to relocating to Manchester, and the club are confident that they can agree a deal with Dortmund – the two players are likely to cost a combined fee of over £50m.
