Establishing himself as a key member of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, Ander Herrera is finally looking like the player that caught the attention of the Red Devils when controlling the midfield for boyhood club Athletic Bilbao.
Starting all but one of United’s last 12 games, mainly alongside Michael Carrick, Herrera’s involvement deep in midfield has allowed Paul Pogba to push forward and that has seen the best form come from the world’s most expensive player.
Herrera also seems to be keen to become a star at Old Trafford though, as he told the club’s official website he’s eyeing a long-term stint with the Red Devils.
“Yes, but you never know because if I want to keep playing for United you have to play very well because United is the biggest club in England. The club has the capacity to bring any player here so you have to always be at your highest level if you want to keep playing for this club. It’s not easy but I hope I can and I will fight for it.”
With Manchester United enjoying a fine unbeaten run in the Premier League, the Red Devils have re-established themselves back in the fight for a top four finish that would see Mourinho’s men return to the Champions League next term.
