Manchester United may not have had the most thrilling start to the season, but Ander Herrera has insisted that the team is filled with players who can win a game single-handedly.
Jose Mourinho’s side went through a spell of winning just two in 11 Premier League games, but they recently secured back-to-back triumphs against Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
At Selhurst Park on Wednesday night, Paul Pogba opened the scoring in the first half, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his sixth goal in six games to claim a late winner after James McArthur equalised for Palace.
United have won less than half of their top-flight fixtures this season, but Herrera has claimed that their individual talents have ability to turn games around. The Spaniard told reporters:
“When you have top players, they can [win a game]. They don’t need to play their best game to change it. That is where we have Paul, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Ibrahimovic, top players who can change the game even when they are not playing their best.
“That is fantastic for us, but I want to speak about our spirit, we controlled the game on a day when we didn’t play our best and that is important for us. In a long season like this, when you win not on your best day it is very important, it is the history of this club.”
The North-West outfit currently sit sixth in the league table, six points adrift of top four and 13 adrift of leaders Chelsea.
United are unbeaten in their last seven heading into the festive schedule, with games against West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and West Ham United coming up.
