When Manchester United splashed out a world-record £89million transfer fee on Paul Pogba during the summer, there were few ney-sayers criticising the deal.
Indeed, although many found the money on the table staggering, especially considering United let him leave for a pittance four years ago, it wasn’t out of context with the modern transfer market and the vast majority viewed the France international as the most talented young central midfielder in world football.
But 14 appearances into his second spell with the Red Devils and the world-class, Ballon d’Or winning star in the making hasn’t quite turned up at Old Trafford.
In fact, the 23-year-old has contributed just one goal and no assists in eight Premier League appearances thus far, averaging an unspectacular 1.5 created chances per match – despite spending his last few outings in the No.10 role.
With that in mind, we have a simple question for United fans; will Pogba eventually prove his worth as he naturally matures, or have the 13-time champions overspent on their £89million midfielder?
