Imminent world-record Man United signing cancelled Man City move last year

Imminent Manchester United signing Paul Pogba cancelled a potential move to Manchester City last summer, according to reports from MARCA.

The Red Devils are understood to be on the verge of snapping up the French midfielder in a world-record deal worth around £92m following weeks of speculation.

Despite Man United having let Pogba leave for just £800,000 only four years ago, landing the Juventus ace is still seen as a massive coup for them and is likely to pull the curtain down on a good window of activity for Jose Mourinho.

And the deal has been made all the sweeter by MARCA, who, in a report regarding the player’s move to Manchester, have revealed that he called off a switch to Man City last year.

It’s understood that a deal between Juve and the Citizens was close around 12 months ago, but Pogba elected to cancel negotiations as he was already deep into pre-season training with the Old Lady.

MARCA also claim that former Man United trainee and the Turin club had agreed that he would be able to move on this summer if he desired back in October, with a switch to Real Madrid expected at the time.
