According to Don Balon, Manchester United will move for Real Madrid attacker Isco at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

What's the story?

Jose Mourinho has spent a small fortune since taking charge of Man United, but it is understood that the Portuguese is far from finished as he looks to put together a squad capable of challenging Manchester City for next season's Premier League title.

A new midfielder to play alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic is said to be high on Mourinho's list of priorities, and according to Don Balon, the 20-time English champions are preparing a big-money offer for Real Madrid's Isco.

The Spain international, who is valued at £67.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, only recently signed a new long-term contract with Los Blancos, with his current deal running until the summer of 2022.

Isco has struggled for regular action in recent weeks, however, and it is understood that the versatile midfielder is open to discussing a move to the Premier League in this summer's transfer window.

It would be some deal if Man United could pull it off, although it is thought that Man City would also be interested if it became clear that Real Madrid were open to a sale.

Why is Isco struggling for football again?

Isco has not played the full 90 minutes of a La Liga match since the middle of November, whilst he has only played 51 minutes of his team's last two league fixtures.

The Spaniard was impressive in the early part of the campaign, but Gareth Bale's return to fitness has seen Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane select the Welshman in a forward position alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

The presence of Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric means that Isco is the odd one out, and that will continue to be the case despite his excellent form over the last 12 months.

There will become a time where Isco is fed up of being the 12th man at Real Madrid, and news of interest from England is sure to interest the 25-year-old.

Isco will almost certainly be on the Real Madrid bench for their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain this week, which would be great news for Man United as they prepare an incredible swoop.
