In Focus: Mkhitaryan’s Manchester United future looks bleak, despite Inter Milan snub

Manchester United will block Inter Milan’s loan offer for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to the Daily Star.

What’s the word?

The Armenian international must have gone through every emotion possible at Old Trafford since his switch from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.

Mkhitaryan has gone through spells of positive form, but he has also been sent into the wilderness by manager Jose Mourinho.

The 28-year-old has started just 11 Premier League games and has come off the bench in a further four, scoring one goal and five assists in that time.

The Daily Star reports that Inter Milan are ready to give Mkhitaryan a lifeline by offering him a loan deal for the rest of the season.

However, the report claims that Mourinho intends to reject it as he is only interested in a permanent transfer.

What’s best for Mkhitaryan?

It has certainly been a difficult time for the attacking midfielder, but despite that he has carried himself with dignity.

The Armenian star has not moaned to the press about his lack of game time and he has been rewarded with regular minutes when performing well.

The problem, though, is that Mourinho does not hesitate in dropping a player if he feels that he is not meeting expectations.

For a young player, it could be seen as a learning curve, but Mkhitaryan is approaching his 30s and it may be more beneficial for him to move on in order to prevent his career from fizzling out.
