As reported by The Mirror, Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial is set to be the subject of significant interest from Real Madrid next summer.

What's the story?

Despite his undoubted ability, Martial is still not a guaranteed starter at the Red Devils under Jose Mourinho, often having to bide his time on the bench before being unleashed to make an impact.

One club looking to capitalise on that and make him their main man is Real Madrid, who according to The Mirror are plotting an £80m move for him next summer.

The paper say Zinedine Zidane sees him as one of the next generation of European football stars that can ensure Madrid are force for years to come, with their biggest stars now on the wrong side of 30.

Massive potential

Martial is part of the furniture at Old Trafford now and it's easy to forget he is still only 21 years of age and arguably far from his peak as an elite footballer.

The French international appeared to find it tough in Jose Mourinho's first season in charge, scoring just four goals in 25 top-flight appearances, many of which came from the bench.

This term though he's finding his groove, already scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 19 matches in all competitions. Still though he hasn't been trusted at times in Mourinho's system, often having to rotate with Marcus Rashford.

If Mourinho could find the right way to utilise his talent, the young attacker can find the consistency to become one of, if not the main man at United.

That's surely the preferable outcome rather than see him move elsewhere and realise his potential there?
