Reports ahead of the summer transfer window have Nathaniel Clyne preparing to snub an improved contract at Southampton to force a move to Manchester United.
ESPN reported just that last month, with United thought to be lining up a mega money move for the England international before the beginning of next season.
But in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Southampton executive director Les Reed has revealed that “the signs are good” that Clyne will sign a new deal at St. Mary’s Stadium at the end of the campaign.
The 24-year-old has only a year left on his current Saints deal, and Reed reckons talks between the club and his representatives are going well and that a decision will be made in the summer.
Could this be a blow for Man United as they attempt to bring the right-back to Old Trafford in the summer as part of building a squad capable of winning the Premier League?
Only time will tell, but Les Reed has certainly given Southampton fans reason to be confident that Clyne will still be with them next season…
