Jose Mourinho will be the man in charge of Manchester United for the upcoming campaign and what a squad he has to choose from.

The Spaniard saved United's blushes on numerous occasions last season and is one of the reasons that United are in European football at all next season.

United conceded a league's best 35 goals and they have De Gea to thank for their defensive heroics.

RB - Matteo Darmian

Darmian wasn't particularly impressive for United last term but a man who has 26 caps for Italy is clearly a player to be utilised.

Darmian was a key player for Italy at EURO 2016 as the so called "worst team in Italian history" reached the quarter finals and narrowly lost to Germany.

Darmian is a great full back and offers plenty of strength going forward too.

CB - Chris Smalling

David De Gea wasn't the only man saving United last season.

Chris Smalling was a rock at the back for the Red Devils last term and has become an established English starter (although we shan't dwell on that fact).

Smalling is a strong figure at the back and is a calm, experienced defender that suits Mourinho's style perfectly.

CB - Eric Bailly

Eric Bailly was Mourinho's first signing as Manchester United manager and what a signing he could prove to be.

Despite the Special one stating that Bailly may not be "ready" for the first team, he will surely want United's £30million man to adapt to Premier League football as soon as possible.

The 22-year-old will surely become a key player for United over the next few seasons.

LB - Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw suffered one of the most horrific injuries of recent years as he broke his leg against Wolfsburg in the Champions League early in the 2015/16 campaign, but the English youngster will be ready to go for the upcoming season to make up for lost time.

There is no denying Shaw's quality and he will be keen to show United fans why the club splashed out £31 million for him back in 2014.

CDM - Morgan Schneiderlin

Schneiderlin never really got a proper run in the United side last season but he is fit and raring to go for the upcoming campaign.

With United signing plenty of new talent, Schneiderlin will really have to fight for his place in the line up but he is surely United's best centre defensive midfielder.

CM - Paul Pogba

The 23-year-old has grabbed the headlines around the world after tearing up Serie A with Juventus and lighting up EURO 2016 with France.

The youngster has already been named in FIFA's team of the year and those are just a few of the reasons that United are ready to make Pogba become football's first £100million man.

CM - Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney is one of the most recognisable names in the world. Rooney is England's record goalscorer and is just 11 games away from breaking the Three Lion's record of appearances.

Mourinho is known to be an admirer of Rooney and will want some experience in the side. Wazza can play up front or in the midfield, he is a vital player for United and has been for over a decade.

RW - Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was named Bundesliga player's player of the season last term after scoring 11 goals and providing a sensational 20 assists to his team-mates.

The Armenian captain scored 12 and assisted 12 in Dortmund's cup games throughout the year and United fans will be able to see the 27-year-old in action very soon.

He is bound to score goals for fun in the Premier League and tear up the Europa League.

LW - Anthony Martial

£50million down the drain? Not at all!

Martial was seen as a risky transfer for Manchester United as Louis van Gaal spent big on the French youngster.

Van Gaal said at the time that Martial was a "gift" for the future United manager and what a present he is, for Jose Mourinho. Martial scored 11 goals for United last season and his speed gave United some much-needed flair.

Martial is already one of the best players in the Premier League and will definitely become even better.

ST - Zlatan Ibrahimovic

United have pulled off one of the greatest signings for Zlatan who despite, his age, is one of the most prolific forwards in football.
