Italian giants desperate to keep Man United target

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has revealed that he he’s desperate to ensure that Nigel de Jong does not join Manchester United this month or at the end of the season.

The former Manchester City ace is a shock target for Louis van Gaal this January with the Old Trafford boss keen to add a holding midfielder to his ranks.

The pair worked together in the Netherlands international set-up before LVG joined United over the summer, and the experienced manager is known to be a fan of the robust enforcer.

De Jong’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and with an agreement not yet in place to extend his stay, United have been linked with a cut-price offer for the ex-Ajax man this month.

But Inzaghi is hopeful, and confident, that he can keep the 30-year-old at the San Siro:

“I hope I don’t lose De Jong at the end of the season,” he is quoted by The Express.

“I hope, and I believe, that in the end an agreement will be found.”
