Following a wildly successful World Cup, it's not hard to see why Manchester United are interested in signing Croatia and Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic. As reported in The Sun, Jose Mourinho is eager to bring the 29-year-old star to Old Trafford this summer, and he is valued at £40.5million on Transfermarkt.

In the World Cup final against France, despite ending up on the losing side, Perisic and Croatia proved they belong among the elite and were by no means outplayed by a very strong France side.

The two-footed winger scored three goals during the tournament, including one in the Semi Final against England and another in the Final against France, showing he is a man for big occasions, and was unfortunate to give away a controversial penalty which he could do little to prevent.

He put in a man of the match performance to knock out England but was unable to perform his magic again in the final, but still demonstrated why Mourinho is such an admirer of the talent, tirelessly tracking back and patrolling the whole flank for 90 minutes. He won two tackles and three aerial battles and is prepared to sacrifice himself for the team, a trait that Mourinho values above all else.

He may not have the most accurate passing on the team, but that's not his job. The pacy and powerful winger is a constant threat and is always trusted to put in a shift and not go missing. He notched up 11 goals and nine assists last season, second only to Romelu Lukaku in the Manchester United squad for the 2017/18 Premier League season.

His efforts may have only resulted in a runners-up medal at the World Cup, but they could seal him a big move to Manchester United where he would surely excel under Mourinho and quickly become a fan favourite on the left wing, replacing Alexis Sanchez who could then move to the opposite flank.
