The start of the new year was not really a success for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops.
Manchester United visited Arsenal at the Emirates and after a great performance by the Gunners, The Red Devils returned back home with absolutely nothing to show for.
Mikel Arteta tallied his first victory as their new manager and Man United continued their struggles. The team is sitting in fifth at the very moment, which doesn’t really seem that alarming, but the gap between them and the top three teams is still huge.
And the fans have recognised one of the biggest culprits of their latest defeat – Jesse Lingard.
It seems that they believe he has no place in this Man United squad and should have never played in the first place.
The 27-year-old could only muster a single shot and even that one wasn’t on target and also just had one key pass with no dribbles to his name come the end of the game. Needless to say, it was a performance that didn’t impress many.
I can understand shaw, but it’s clear as day lingard is a lost cause. Playing him against Everton Watford and arsenal and we get 1 point. Obvious this should be his last time on a united team line up

I really dont know why we say we rebuilding when lingard is in the team, it’s crazy…

Get him out. Never ever ever a united player.

Persisting with lingard when he is woefully off form is simply baffling. None of the players came out of that game with any credit. The buck stops with the manager. Made a poor Arsenal team look good.

Whenever Ole starts Lingard I question his whether he is the right guy for Manutd. Lingard put the team on the back foot immediately. He literally brings down the entire teams quality of football.

Never play Lingard again. He’s finished

And while many have questioned Solskjaer’s decision-making as well, Lingard still seems to be the prime target for their harsh criticism.
Some of the fans even called him useless and others were joking on his account, stating that the 27-year-old has already equalled his last year’s tally of goals, seeing how he went the full year without rattling the net in the Premier League.

His last one was against Cardiff back in 2018 when Man United won 5-1.
But we have to remember he’s young and full of potential.

He’s useless, period.
— James Anthony Watson (@Schopenhauer66) January 1, 2020
I agree.. He makes the worst changes… Andreas has no business on the bench what does Lingard give to a team absolutely nothing.. Now pogba is going to have surgery, and it doesn’t seem like we are going to buy players.. Ole is absolutely clueless both tactically and otherwise
— PATE AFTER PATE (@DEMOLEASHON) January 2, 2020
Lingard has equaled his goal and assist tally from last year already.

And while this can also mean that there’s nowhere for him to go but up, the fans are getting rather impatient with his development and don’t want him around anymore.
It remains to be seen, however, what awaits the 27-year-old player in the not so distant future.
Meanwhile, many Man United fans reacted as one of their big transfer targets joined a rival club instead of them…
