Injuries are just one of those things which will happen to a player over his career. Some will be minor, such as a bruised toe, or strained muscle, however over the history of the Premier League, we have witnessed some gruesome tackles and painful collisions that make us wince, or indeed become unable to even look at the picture of it.

Football is a contact sport after all, and thus when Wayne Rooney posted a picture on Twitter of the injury that he sustained having been on the other side of Phil Jones, it brought to light the kind of pain and discomfort that can befall these millionaires.

Whether there has been a leg break, or concussion or a torn ligament, it is unfortunate that some players will have their careers hampered by these, forcing retirement in severe cases.
