The last few days have seen quite the turnaround where Alexis Sanchez is concerned.
For so long it was thought that the Arsenal attacker would join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
However, according to The Independent‘s live transfer blog, Manchester United have agreed terms with the Chile international.
The online publication states that there is still uncertainty surrounding Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s part in the transfer.
The winger could be included as part of a player-plus-cash exchange, but The Independent states that talks are ongoing.
At this stage, Sanchez remains an Arsenal player, but with the widespread speculation rumbling, it seems unlikely that the 29-year-old will be at the Emirates beyond this month.
Phil Jones was recently put in an awkward position when he was asked about Sanchez’s possible arrival.
Given that there has been no confirmation from either club, the United defender tried to be diplomatic.
According to the Daily Star, Jones said:
“We just go about what we do best. Keep playing, it’s not up to us, it’s not down to us. We know just as much as you guys. If someone new comes in the door then obviously it’s a positive move for United, but it’s not up to us. Yeah, he’s a good player. But it doesn’t mean to say he’s going to come to United. We’ll have to see.”
Sanchez has scored eight goals and created three assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.
