Manchester United, as ever, have been very much the centre of attention of late. Deadline day was a bit of a Red Devils-fest, with David de Gea’s Real Madrid saga and the Anthony Martial move the real headline-grabbers of the twice-yearly yellow ticker-tape-bonanza.
The latter move really did raise eyebrows, with United’s late flurry a little baffling given that they’ve had all summer to address glaring concerns up front. Also, the £36m dished out saw Louis van Gaal’s total spend at Old Trafford hiked further, with the Dutchman having spent in the region of a quarter of a billion pounds since taking over!
Still he claims this side is not yet ‘his own’, while a loss at Swansea over the weekend – a team assembled on a fraction of the Manchester outfit’s budget – highlighted problems.
Our very own Marcus Speller has been looking into the issue, and you can see and hear what he feels in the video below!
