After exploding onto the scene last season, Marcus Rashford has had to settle for a lesser role at Manchester United this season but the young English forward has still found it in himself to provide a big impact.
Utilised by Jose Mourinho off the bench against West Ham United this weekend, Rashford provided the difference as the Red Devils secured their six consecutive victory in the Premier League with a 2-0 win at the London Stadium.
Following the match, Rashford has been praised by numerous sections of the media and Arsenal great Martin Keown was amongst those to be impressed by the youngster’s display, as he discussed the striker’s deadly ability as a pundit on Match of the Day.
“He’s a nightmare for defenders. He stops the ball, changes direction and it’s that change of pace and an intelligence of movement with him. He picked the pass out [for the first goal] beautifully,”
“Ibrahimovic, this time, needed that help on the pitch and he needed that movement and extra pace. It is easy for the person on the ball to find him. He knows exactly where he wants the ball. He did everything in that game and he was only on the pitch for half an hour.”
With the FA Cup this weekend seeing Manchester United clash with Championship opponents in the form of Reading, Rashford could earn himself a rare start leading the line and it may provide him with the chance to impress his starting opportunities in the second-half of the season.
