Manchester United’s Juan Mata has talked up a potential summer move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, claiming that he would be “happy” to play alongside the Swede.
‘Ibra’ currently plies his trade with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, but he’s already revealed that he’ll bring his trophy-laden spell in the French capital to an end in a few months’ time when his contract expires.
Despite his age, 34, the Scandinavian has attracted widespread interest of late, with Man United one of a host of high-profile clubs thought to be keen on him.
And speaking to Sky Sports, Mata has claimed that he would like to see Ibrahimovic in the same Red Devils XI as himself next season:
“I don’t know what he’s going to do,
“Maybe he tries a new chapter in his long career. He was in so many countries and so many leagues and he’s won trophies everywhere. That speaks about his qualities as a player.
“He’s a very good player and I like to play with very good players. I don’t decide that, he decides that and the club decides.
“But obviously I think every player would be happy to play with him.”
The Sweden international is widely hailed as one of the best players of his generation, and has won league titles in his homeland, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France in a glittering career.
