Manchester United full-back Rafael Da Silva is said to be on his way to Lyon this summer, according to Metro.
The Brazilian full-back featured less and less for United last term under Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal and looks to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
The 25 year-old has only one year left on his contract and so would be able to leave for nothing in a year’s time. Metro reports that Manchester United are looking to sell him now rather than lose him for free next summer, and the two clubs are ‘very close’ to agreeing a fee.
Rafael has made 96 appearances for United in his seven years at the club, scoring five goals, but was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
It is reported that Lyon are fending off other interested clubs including Galatasaray, Benfica, Roma and Fiorentina to sign the full-back as they look to build a team capable of challenging PSG to the Ligue 1 title after having lost to the Parisians 2-0 in Montreal last night in the French Trophee des Champions curtain-raiser.
