The Red Devils host the Reds tomorrow in a game being dubbed as pivotal in the home side’s hopes of securing European qualification, and the Uruguayan striker is widely being tipped as the player to make the difference.
Suarez has been in superb form this term, and currently leads the Premier League’s scoring charts with 24 goals in 23 outings.
He has also struck up a wonderful partnership with Daniel Sturridge in attack – a double act that has been dubbed ‘SAS’.
Rooney – who himself has been on top form – believes that Suarez’s all round game makes him one of the planet’s very best footballers:
“Suarez, for me, is up there with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the best players in the world. He has been that good and the two of them together (Suarez & Sturridge) have been in great form this season.” He is quoted by The Express.
Rooney went on to say that his partnership with Robin van Persie will improve – with the duo having been criticised for their linkup play in recent weeks:
“Personally, we can score more goals and we know we can. We are working hard to do that, we have to keep going and hopefully that will come.”
