Man United ahead of Liverpool in summer bargain hunt

Manchester United are favourites to sign Burnley’s Danny Ings when his contract expires this summer, ahead of bitter rivals Liverpool, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Clarets hit-man is likely to leave Turf Moor when the current campaign comes to an end, with his deal set to be up.

And with the 22-year-old having netted an impressive nine goals in his debut season in the Premier league in a cheaply-assembled, newly-promoted side, a host of big teams are looking at him.

Liverpool looked his most likely destination after a failed winter move, but now reports claim that United are at the front of the queue.

Although he will be a free agent, Ings will command a compensation fee of around £5m due to his age and Burnley’s contribution to his development.

Louis van Gaal is a big fan of the forward, who netted at Old Trafford as his side slipped to a 3-1 loss.
