Manchester United have been alerted to the situation of Leeds midfield Lewis Cook, report The Sun.
The 19-year old has emerged as one of the most exciting young prospects outside the Premier League since breaking into the Whites’ first-team squad.
He was a key member of the England under-19 squad that won the European Champions for their age group in 2014 and was recognised as the Championship’s Apprentice of the Year last season.
Despite his tender years, the academy graduate has made 34 appearances this season and been an ever present under numerous managers, notching two goals along the way.
However, the report claims there is a £5m clause inserted into his deal at Elland Road should the Yorkshire giants fail to earn promotion this season.
With Steve Evans’ side languishing in 19th, this is said to have prompted the Red Devils into considering making a move to bring the starlet across the Pennines.
