Manchester United have approached Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli, according to reports in the Metro.
The Algerian international is free to talk to foreign clubs in January as he enters the final six months of his deal with the La Liga giants.
His performances at the 2014 World Cup helped establish him as one of the top wingers plying their trade in Europe, and the Red Devils could be set to pounce on the contract situation with his current club.
Both Inter Milan and Tottenham have been linked with the 25-year old, though it is understood that Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal has made the first move in the race to sign him.
He can operate as a traditional winger, as well as be deployed more centrally in attacking areas to run at defences.
With the club in desperate need of firepower up front, reports suggest they are ready to offer the Algerian star a way out his contract talks in Spain.
He has been at the Mestalla for five years, since joining from French side Grenoble in 2010.
