Man United boosted in race for summer target

Manchester United have been given a major boost in the race for Arturo Vidal, with reports from talkSPORT claiming that Juventus no longer see their midfield star as ‘unsellable’

The Red Devils chased the Chile international for much of the summer, but saw their efforts to land him end in disappointment as the Turin giants held firm to keep their man.

But events last week have shifted the balance at Juve, with Vidal’s off-field antics having grabbed the headlines.

The 27-year-old was hit with a massive €100,000 fine by the club for reporting to training late after being involved in an incident at a nightclub in the early hours of the morning.

Vidal was then left out of the big weekend clash with Roma, plunging his long-term future into doubt.

Reports suggest that the South American has been warned about his conduct and that the Old Lady are now far more open to a £35m deal than they were just over a month ago.

Speculation from the box-to-box star’s homeland during the summer suggested that he had agreed a mega money contract with United, who may now look to re-enter the race with Louis van Gaal having not signed an orthodox holding midfield player.
