Man United boss dismisses striker exit rumours

Manchester United manager David Moyes has insisted that Danny Welbeck is vitally “important” to him amid reports of a possible summer exit.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with Tottenham over the weekend, with rumours suggesting that he is ready to call time on his spell at Old Trafford after growing frustrated at a lack of action.

Welbeck was once again on the bench as United lost to Everton, however he did come on in the second-half.

He was unable to add to his 10 goals this term, but Moyes is adamant that the striker is a key man in his squad:

“Danny Welbeck is really important to me and I really value him.” He is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“There have been lots of stories. I can only tell you Danny Welbeck is really important to me and really important to Manchester United.”

Welbeck is an academy graduate and locally born player, which has made him a favourite among United’s supporters.

Yet with two years on his contract Tottenham are said to be plotting a £20m move to lure him to White Hart Lane.
