Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal believes Luke Shaw will not make Euro 2016 following his gruesome injury last month, according to the Daily Mail.
The England international suffered a horrific double leg break in a Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven back in September, though he has recently started his rehabilitation.
Despite returning to the Red Devils’ Carrington training ground, van Gaal is dampening expectations that the 20-year old could make a full recovery in time for next summer’s international tournament in France.
‘You cannot say that he can now go’, mused the Dutchman, before adding ‘maybe there are complications, you never know.’
A £27m signing from Southampton last year, Shaw had been in great form up until the traumatic injury.
The Three Lions star had cemented his place as Roy Hodgson’s first-choice left back during the qualifying campaign in which they won all ten of their games.
With Leighton Baines injured, the former Saint had fended off competition from the likes of Ryan Bertrand and Kieran Gibbs.
However, the race is on as to whether he will be involved in proceedings next summer.
