Man United boss hints that club have to sign Barca star

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has hinted that the Old Trafford club need to sign a pacey player before the end of the month, amid rumours of the Manchester club triggering Barcelona winger Pedro’s release clause.

ESPN report that the Manchester United manager is looking for even more attacking recruits this summer, especially in the wake of the loss of Angel Di Maria, who is set to have a medical at PSG.

Van Gaal believes that the top teams around Europe possess a pace and creativity that United need to compete with, and losing Di Maria means that United have lost even more pace and creativity from their team.

Van Gaal is reported to have said, “Barcelona have the speed of Neymar and [Lionel] Messi — and they have Pedro behind them. We have to compete with that,” hinting that United need to sign someone in the mould of Pedro to inject some pace to their team.

Pedro managed to score 11 goals for Barcelona last season, despite the arrival of Luis Suarez which forced him out of the team and limited his involvement.
