Man United captain keen on romantic Everton return

Everton defender Phil Jagielka has claimed that Wayne Rooney would like to return to old club Everton, The Metro reports.

The Manchester United captain left his boyhood club Everton in 2004 and has gone on to win the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup with his adopted team.

Rooney has been the subject of abuse on his returns to Goodison Park in the Manchester United colours, but such instances have become increasingly muted as time goes on.

Jagielka has claimed that Rooney would like to return to Everton and insisted that the England striker wouldn’t want to do so in a sentimental capacity. The Everton defender believes that Rooney would want to be abled to have a real impact if he returned, suggesting that that the 29-year-old could be on his way sooner rather than later.

Manchester United signed Wayne Rooney for £27million when he was only 18-years-old, the highest fee paid for a player under the age of 20 at the time.
