According to The Times, Manchester United will seal the signature of Juventus defender Alex Sandro following the FA Cup final this weekend.

What's the story?

United boss Jose Mourinho is once again expected to splash the cash this summer in a bid to put together a team capable of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.

Ashley Young has impressed in the left-back position for United this season, but Luke Shaw has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford, and it is certainly an area that needs strengthening in this summer's transfer window.

United have long been linked with Sandro, and according to The Times, senior figures at Juventus expect the deal to be finalised once United have faced Chelsea in the FA Cup final, with that clash due to take place late on Saturday afternoon.

The report claims that Juventus value Sandro in the region of £50m, and United are prepared to meet that figure in order to sign the 27-year-old ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

Would Sandro be worth the money?

Sandro joined Juventus from Porto in the summer of 2015, and the Brazilian has gone from strength to strength over the last few seasons.

The defender has made more than 100 appearances during his time in Serie A, and has managed four goals and six assists in 38 appearances in all competitions this season.

Sandro is very much the modern-day full-back, possessing the ability to both defend and attack in equal measure.

Young has been excellent for the Red Devils this term, but there is no question that Sandro is a class above the Englishman, and he would bring a whole heap of qualities to Mourinho's team next season.

A price of £50m is extremely steep for a full-back, but transfer records could again be broken this summer, and United are not exactly short of cash.
