Former Manchester United coach Ricky Sbragia believes that the potential signing of Angel di Maria will be a “big plus” for his old side.
The Red Devils are understood to be on the verge of sealing a £50m-£60m deal for the Argentine attacker, with Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti having revealed that the player himself has said his fair-wells to his team-mates.
PSG were thought to be frontrunners for di Maria, but as their pursuit of him stalled United moved, and now the South American is thought to be ready to become the club’s marquee arrival for the summer.
The deal has been met with some question marks from United fans and pundits, with Louis van Gaal’s squad seemingly packed with top class forward-thinking talent, but Sbragia feels that the addition of the 26-year-old will be a positive one for them:
“He will be a big plus for United,” he told talkSPORT. “He’s a very talented player, and it’s a big coup for United to take him away from Real Madrid.”
Di Maria has also been linked with Manchester City, but rumours suggest the Sky Blues passed on the chance to sign him.
