Man United confident of £70m January double move

Manchester United are confident of securing a £70m double move for Fiorentina and Roma pair Juan Cuadrado and Kevin Strootman in January, according to reports from The Metro.

Despite spending over £150m during the summer – the highest total of any club in Europe – the Red Devils are set to flex their financial muscles again in the New Year with Louis van Gaal desperate to add to his squad.

And one target they missed out on last time around is back on the agenda in the shape of Cuadrado.

The Colombian wide-man was a player LVG chased for quite some time, yet he elected to stay with Fiorentina.

La Viola are rumoured to be resigned to letting the fleet-footed winger leave if an offer of £30m is received, which has piqued United’s interest.

As well as the winger, Strootman of Roma is a priority.

The Dutchman has missed much of 2014 with a serious knee injury, but he’s expected to return to first-team action before the end of 2014.

Van Gaal is a big fan of the 24-year-old after working with him in the Holland set-up and is ready to make £40m gamble on him in January.
