Man United confident of beating Chelsea in the race to sign Real Madrid star

Manchester United are confident in beating Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to land Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to talkSPORT.

The three time Balon D’oR winner has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital, despite having recently become their all-time top scorer.

The Portuguese superstar has long been linked with a sensational return to Old Trafford, where he played between 2003 and 2009, before joining Los Blancos in a whopping £80m deal.

A mega money move to PSG had been mooted, after the player was caught chatting to manager Laurent Blanc after the Champions League clash between the two giants last month.

Chelsea are also understood to be in race should he depart the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

The Red Devils are in desperate need for additions to their frontline, with captain Wayne Rooney struggling in front of goal. Any return for their former ‘Number 7’ will be emotional and sensational in equal measure, as the 30-year old was an icon during his time at Old Trafford.

Despite the links with Chelsea, reports suggest the Manchester outfit are confident in matching any transfer fee, along with meeting the player’s weekly wage demands.
