Man United confirm January deal for World Cup winner

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has officially joined Belgian side Standard Liege on loan for the rest of the season, report The Guardian.

The 34-year old stopper has hardly featured for the Red Devils since joining on a free transfer around this time last year having fallen out with manager Louis van Gaal.

International teammate David De Gea is the undisputed Number 1 at Old Trafford and the former Barcelona stalwart has appeared just twice.

Argentine custodian Sergio Romero was also drafted in over the summer, leaving a man who was widely regarded to be one of the best ‘keepers in the world as third choice.

The World Cup winner saw a move to Turkish side Besiktas fall through over the summer and has been training with the club’s Under-21 squad.

However, he will now join the Belgian outfit on loan until the end of the season, when he will be about of contract at the Theatre of Dreams.
