Manchester United are considering a move to sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea once they confirm the arrival of manager Jose Mourinho, Daily Mail reports.
The 27-year-old has emerged as a potential summer signing given that he was seen as a key player for the Portuguese boss during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Louis van Gaal was sacked by the club yesterday, with Mourinho set to be named as his replacement following months of speculation.
It is suggested that he wants to build from the back, as he is also eyeing potential moves for Everton’s John Stones as well as Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.
Upon his seemingly imminent arrival, the former Blues boss will need to address a host of issues, most importantly regarding the futures of Juan Mata and David de Gea.
He previously had a falling out with Mata during his time at Chelsea and will also need to convince De Gea to snub a switch away.
