Man United could take advantage of big development to secure ‘disappointed’ £150m star

Manchester United could take advantage of Real Madrid’s decision to axe Rafa Benitez with a move for Gareth Bale, who is ‘disappointed’ by the club’s actions, according to reports from The Times.

The Spaniards opted to axe the ex-Liverpool and Chelsea tactician on Monday, even though Los Blancos remain just four points adrift of La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.

Despite suggestions that Benitez had ‘lost the dressing room’ at the Bernabeu, Bale was flourishing under the 26-year-old, and reports claim that the club’s decision to replace him with Zinedine Zidane has disappointed him.

And this in turn could spark United into action, with the Red Devils having been linked with moves for the world’s most expensive player – he cost Real £86m in 2013 – on many occasions over the past 18 months.

However, the 10-time European Champions are unlikely to sell for less than an eye-watering £150m, while Bale himself would expect a salary of around £300,000-per-week.
